Winning streak (sports)

In sports, a winning streak refers to a consecutive number of games won. A winning streak can last only two games or be sustained over a much larger timeframe. A winning streak can be held by a team, as in baseball, or by an individual, as in tennis.

The America's Cup trophy remained in the hands of the United States from 1851, when it won the first race, until 1983 when the Cup was won by the challenger, Australia II from Australia. This ended the longest winning streak in the history of sport, 25 successive victories over 132 years.
