Winkelman is a town in Gila County, Arizona, United States. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 444.[1]

Winkelman is located at 32°59′17″N, 110°46′13″W (32.988142, -110.770240)GR1. Winkelman is adjacent to Hayden, Arizona. The unincorporated community of Dudleyville, Arizona is south of Winkelman, in Pinal County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 443 people, 160 households, and 112 families residing in the town. The population density was 237.6/km² (612.3/mi²). There were 194 housing units at an average density of 104.0/km² (268.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 62.08% White, 0.23% Black or African American, 36.12% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. 74.72% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 160 households out of which 30.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.9% were married couples living together, 15.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% were non-families. 26.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.35.

In the town the population was spread out with 29.3% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 21.2% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $25,455, and the median income for a family was $38,250. Males had a median income of $34,583 versus $17,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $10,506. About 20.0% of families and 27.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 42.5% of those under age 18 and 16.7% of those age 65 or over.
