Wink is a city in Winkler County, Texas, USA. The population was 919 at the 2000 census.
Wink was the hometown of singer and songwriter Roy Orbison, although he was born in Vernon, Texas.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 919 people, 341 households, and 260 families residing in the city. The population density was 311.3/km² (809.1/mi²). There were 437 housing units at an average density of 148.0/km² (384.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 85.64% White, 0.87% African American, 0.33% Native American, 10.88% from other races, and 2.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 23.07% of the population.
There were 341 households out of which 42.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.15.
In the city the population was spread out with 31.8% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $38,068, and the median income for a family was $44,750. Males had a median income of $32,266 versus $20,526 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,888. About 10.0% of families and 14.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.6% of those under age 18 and 20.8% of those age 65 or over.

According to the NOAA's National Weather Service, Wink is often one of the hottest locations in Texas as well as in the United States. Most extreme readings occur in the spring.
