Windows Live OneCare Family Safety is one of many free Windows Live programs for Microsoft Windows, developed by Microsoft. As a parental control application in its beta stage, it allows users to set guidelines and restrictions for children surfing on the internet and allows parents to monitor their children’s web activities. Windows Live OneCare Family Safety is roughly similar to Windows Vista Family Safety, which is offered in the next version of Microsoft Windows. A preview of the application was offered to 3000 testers earlier in 2006. Currently, the beta is available for download by residents of the U.S.

[edit] Features and limitations

The features of Windows Live OneCare Family Safety include those commonly found in most parental control programs. Some of these features are search restrictions, website blocking, and content filtering. The application also features web activity monitoring and remote control.

Windows Live OneCare Family Safety must be downloaded and installed on your computer. It also requires you to create a Windows Live ID for each person the user wants to control. Users must also separately login to Family Safety when they login under a Windows Account so their permissions and privileges can be set. Currently there is no automatic sign-in option.
