Windows Live Agents are chatterbot agents for Windows Live Messenger that is part of Microsoft's Windows Live services. It provide users to interact with the agents through Windows Live Messenger to get more information about specific topics.

Windows Live Agents are used to entertain, encourage engagement with products or services, provide a new advertising opportunity for brand advertisers, and drive search and information retrieval.

Several current agents available on Windows Live Agents include:

  • Edge Bot by Ford Edge (fordedge@botmetro.net) - Find restaurants, hotspots and entertainments in various cities
  • Don Lothario (donlothario@hotmail.co.uk) - Play games, personality quizzes and more.
  • GSAgent (gsagent@botmetro.net) - Give u helpful computer tips and play fun games.
  • Movie Scout (moviescout@botmetro.net) - Search movies by genre or look at what's showing at the nearest cinema. Users can also watch movie trailers in the Activity window
  • MSN Dating Bot (datingbot@botmetro.net) - Dating agents powered by MSN Dating & Personals with Match.com
  • Astrology Bot (astrobot@botmetro.net) - Explore horoscope, Zodiac signs, Tarot Card, Chinese readings and more
  • Games Bot (gamesbot@botmetro.net) - Play five different games with this bot
  • Encarta Instant Answers (encarta@botmetro.net) - Find answers to questions asked in the conversation window, and displays rich content from the Encarta website in the Activty window
  • WiLMa Bot (WiLMa@live.com) - A promotional bot for Windows Live Messenger, to explore new features in Windows live Messenger

  • alienchat@hotmail.com - A bot that supposedly intercepts alien transmissions.

In October 2006, Microsoft acquired privately owned Colloquis Inc., a provider of conversational online business solutions that feature natural language-processing technology. Microsoft plans to offer services based on Colloquis technology to businesses with online operations, as well as incorporating the technology into its own products, including Windows Live Agents and Microsoft's Customer Care Framework (CCF).
