Windlesham House School

Windlesham House School was founded in 1837 by Charles Robert Malden and was the first boy's preparatory school in the United Kingdom. In 1963 Charles and Elizabeth Ann Malden, then Heads of the School accepted girls, making it the first co-educational prep school in the country. It was the first school with an indoor swimming pool. It's set in Englands South Downs with 60 acres of pristine grounds. This includes multiple sports pitches, some woods, astro and the school buildings. It has a board of twelve semi-permanent governors who meet regularly.

There are roughly 270 children in the school and these are split into five years but named counting down the years until they leave, so for instance the Fives would be the youngest year and the Ones would be preparing to move to their next school. In the past few years it has had an incredibly high rate of people passing into their first school of choice, many of these some of the top schools in the country. Scholarships are common, with drama, sport, academic and even a golf one being awarded.

Music plays a large part in the school with around 200 music lessons happening every week. There are compulsory debates, on subjects such as the death penalty, animal cruelty and whether war is always wrong, for the top 2 years, and children make excellent arguments, and speeches from the floor. The school is located near Washington, West Sussex having moved there in 1934. The school accepts boarders and caters for children aged 8 to 13 years.
