The article implies that 750ml became a standard size for wine bottles following its adoption by the US in the 1970s, which is clearly untrue as it was a standard size in most of the metric world long before then.
Why is Bordeaux different in the middle sizes? --Jonrock 20:09, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
I thought much the same thing when I read through it. I took a look around and the best source I found was http://www.wineintro.com/history/glassware/general.html However I'm also concerned that the History of bottle size standardization (which is what that section covers) might not actually be appropriate on the nomenclature page. If it is indeed appropriate it would only be as part of a much more in depth analysis of the origin of the names. Also occurred to me that "nomenclature" is not an entirely accurate descriptor as the article as it stands is only nomenclature with regards to sizes with no discussion of shapes or other name related issues. Of course that could also be my own ignorance re: what's important. --Syrrys 22:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikification
I don't know anything about wine bottle sizes, but I do know a little about wikification, so I tried to clean up this article a bit. It's very possible that I left complete rubbish in there, so someone with domain expertise ought to clean this up. VTBassMatt 17:15, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
