Talk:Windsor-Detroit

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a silly, pointless and self-serving article. There is enough info on Windsor and Detroit in their respective headings. I think those trying to support the "very weak" view that Metro Detroit includes Windsor and other parts of Canada have created this article for self-validation. I suggest this article be deleted. In the meantime, I have neutralized the content. 66.183.217.31 23:14, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

It is a highly informational article that has several sources and provides new and important information for readers. To say that it is for 'Self Validation' is 'silly and pointless'. 72.136.209.73 21:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Many people refer to the region as Detroit-Windsor or Windsor-Detroit. It is not self serving... Like it or not but what occurs economically in Metro Detroit has much more impact on the Windsor region that what occurs in places such as Toronto. 68.145.115.145 04:06, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

The article currently states: "The Windsor-Detroit region as a whole is not officially recognized as a single metropolitan area by either the Canadian or American governments." ... perhaps for this to be a valid article, someone should state what government (municipal, state, provincial or federal) DOES recognize "Windsor-Detroit" as a single metropolitan area? As far as I know there is no such recognition anywhere. The "Windsor-Detroit region" is not officially a region at all. If there was some validity to the claim, then the article should link to an official document that defines the "region". If no such document or source cannot be found, then the article should be deleted. --24.57.10.83 03:14, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge, the Windsor area is included in most population figures for the Metro Detroit area. Can someone confirm this?
The official definition of Metro Detroit does not include anything outside the country. Population figures do not include Windsor. There is, of course, an urban expanse that encompasses both Metro Detroit and Metro Windsor. I'm not sure what this article is trying to do, however, as there is sufficient info on each Metro area under the respective headings (Metro Detroit and Windsor, Canada). Each of these articles points sufficiently to the unique relationship these two international cities share. Mariokempes 21:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
