The Windrush - used by the British Military to transport troops just prior to the Suez Crisis this ship was also used to transport families to the UK. Photographed in 1949 by Michael A. W. Griffin, his family give permission for the reproduction of this photo on this site. Of interest may be that the journey from the Uk to the Far East took six weeks.
