Taking a median average measurement has an advantage of taking an mean average measurement, in that it is not as prone to being skewwed by 'anomolies'. For example, if three millionaires moved into the Wilton Township, this would severly distort what appears to be the mean average income, which is the total income earned by all divided by the total people contributing.
