The mall opened in 1979 and has since undergone four expansions. In 1999, Willowbrook underwent a major renovation and was re-merchandised with the addition of major stores such as and Off the Wall. Part of Willowbrook's re-merchandising plan included a new 22,000-square-foot / 2,043.9 m² wing, with anchor stores such as Sport Chek, completed in 2000. New interior and exterior signage, including a new logo, accompanied the other changes. Today, Willowbrook Shopping Centre is a regional centre with over 640,000 square feet / 59,457.9 m².

[edit] Transportation

The mall can be accessed via the Fraser Highway, which is part of Highway 1A, and the Langley Bypass, which is part of Highway 10. Both of these are major east-west corridors of the Greater Vancouver area.

In addition, all buses in Langley pass by the mall at some point. These routes run from Langley City, southern Langley or Aldergrove to Surrey Central Station of the SkyTrain system. One Surrey route also services Willowbrook, but on a limited basis.
