Willington railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Willington railway station serves the village of Willington in Derbyshire, England. The present station was constructed in the mid 1990s as part of the ill-fated Ivanhoe Line scheme, the latter being a plan to re-introduce passenger services to the Burton upon Trent - Leicester line, which is currently used for freight purposes only. As the scheme has never reached fruition, the station is served only by a handful of Birmingham - Nottingham local trains and a couple of semi-fast services from Burton upon Trent to London. The local services are operated by Central Trains and the London trains by Midland Mainline.
