Willie Green

Willie J. Green (born July 28, 1981 in Detroit, Michigan) is a professional basketball player in the NBA currently with the Philadelphia 76ers. After a college career at the University of Detroit Mercy, Green was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round (41st overall) of the 2003 NBA Draft. He was later traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for the draft rights to Paccelis Morlende.

Green was due to re-sign with the Sixers during the 2005 offseason, but suffered an injury the day of the contract signing, which put it in a temporary state of limbo. On March 23, 2006 he officially re-signed with the Sixers, and on April 4, 2006 he was activated and played 11 minutes, scored 9 points on 4 for 6 shooting in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

As of March 20th, 2007, Willie Green has been an every day starter for the lowly, but recently reborn, Philadelphia 76ers thanks to the trade that sent Allen Iverson and Ivan McFarlin to the Denver Nuggets for Andre Miller and Joe Smith. As a guard, Willie is credited with his speed, his ability to run the court, and being a premier player off the bench.

As of March 18th, 2007, Willie has played in 61 games overall for the 76ers for the 2006-2007 season, averaging 23.6 Minutes, 10.4 Points Per Game, 2.0 Rebounds, and 1.4 Assits, shooting just over 40% from the field. He is a career 72.9% Free Throw shooter and a 30.9% Three-point shooter.
