Willie Clayton On March 29, 1956, Willie Clayton was born in Delta (Indianola, Mississippi). He grew up there listening and singing to blues since the age of seven and has not stopped for 40 years.
In 1971, Clayton left his hometown of Indianola and ventured to Chicago. There the young singer landed a contract with Hi Records in Memphis. He worked with producer Willie Mitchell and vaunted Hi rhythm section.
In 1984, Clayton made the RB charts with his “Tell Me” (produced by General Crook) and “what a Way to Put It”.
In 1993, Let’s Get Together album was created by Clayton. It was a smooth soul-blues album that had several originals, but it was named after Al Green’s hit song, “Simply Beautiful”. Following that he mixed Reverend Al and Aretha Franklin with his own music to create “It’s About Love” in 1999.
Although Willie Clayton’s music career was not as successful as he hoped for, he kept perseverance. He is now with EndZone Entertainment and he is doing what he loves most-performing for fans. “Every time I make a recording or a personal appearance, I am amazed at how positive the responses are from my fans. It makes me extremely humble to be appreciated while entertaining you with my God given talent. These acknowledgements by you, my fans, have touched me deeply and forever changed me in a positive way. I hope my music continues to touch you and change you in a positive way too,” said Clayton about his musical journey.
