William Willett (Royal Household)

Commander William Willett, OBE, MVO, DSC (1919 – 1976) was Private Secretary to His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, consort of Queen Elizabeth II 1970-1976.

Willett was educated at Winchester College and the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. He joined the Royal Navy in 1937. He was sailing master on the royal yacht Bloodhound 1967-1968.

Willett received the DSC in 1942. He was made a OBE in 1964 and an MVO in 1969.
