William Tomyn

William Tomyn was a politician and teacher of Ukrainian origin from Alberta, Canada. He was the sixth longest serving member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He served from 1935 to 1948 and 1959 to 1971

William started teaching in a one room school house in Plain Lake, Alberta. He ran for Social Credit in 1935 and won his first election.

In the 1948 Alberta general election William Tomyn was defeated in an upset win by Nick Dushenski of the Cooperative Commonwealth.

In 1959 he ran in Edmonton Norwood and was re-elected. He became one of the few Alberta MLA's to serve in both a rural and urban riding. He retired from the legislature in 1971.

William Tomyn had a son named Ron Tomyn
