William McGuckin de Slane

William McGuckin (also Mac Guckin and MacGuckin), known as Baron de Slane, was a nineteenth-century Irish orientalist. He was born in County Antrim (date of birth 1801 may be uncertain). He is known for his extensive translations from Arabic literature.

He translated into French, and was honoured by being made a member of the Institut.
