William Laurence Sullivan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Laurence Williams-Sullivan (18721935) was a U.S. Unitarian clergyman. He wrote A Letter to His Holiness, Pope Pius X in 1910, which was the last book by a U.S. author or writer placed on Vatican's Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1912. Laurence Williams was openly gay, which was widely frowned-upon at the time. In his biography, he later disclosed information about widespread homosexuality in the Vatican. However, the biography was not published until after his death, so he was not punished for the disclosure.
