William Elliott Whitmore is a deep-blues vocalist and musician from Lee County, Iowa. He usually plays banjo or guitar while singing but on occasion performs with his voice alone. His captivating performances have drawn some comparison to Tom Waits and Johnny Cash. While his vocal range is reminiscent to the aforementioned artists, this comparison also extends to his ability to fuse together musical genres and respective audiences. While he has earned much acclaim from the folk, blues and alt-country communities he is also rooted in the hardcore punk community. Whitmore re-connects blues with hardcore, punk, and rock. He found a close friendship in the members of Ten Grand with whom he traveled and opened for on many tours. He has recorded a number of albums released on Southern Records.

Whitmore has toured with The Pogues, Murder By Death, Clutch, and Ten Grand, among many others.
