William E. Cousins

William Edward Cousins (August 20, 1902 in Chicago, Illinois - September 14, 1988 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) was the Roman Catholic archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee from December 18, 1958 until September 17, 1977.

He was ordained to the priesthood on April 23, 1927 in Chicago. On December 17, 1949, Pius XII appointed Father Cousins an auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, and on March 7, 1949, he was ordained a bishop. On May 21, 1952, Pope Pius XII appointed Father Cousins as Bishop of the Diocese of Peoria. On December 18, 1958, Pope John XXIII appointed Bishop Cousins as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee where he remained until his retirement on September 17, 1977.
