William Drummond (colonial governor)

William Drummond (d. 1676) was the first colonial governor of Albemarle Sound settlement in the Province of Carolina and a participant in Bacon's Rebellion. He was Scottish and chosen to be governor by the 8 Lords Proprietor of the colony. Samuel Stephens succeeded him as governor.
