William Cunningham, 8th Earl of Glencairn

William Cunningham (1610 - 1664), 8th Earl of Glencairn, was a Scottish nobleman.

A Scottish Privy Counsellor and Commissioner of the Treasury in 1641, he was appointed Lord Justice General in 1646, a post he held until 1649. He was privy to the attempted rescue of Charles I in 1648, and was commissioned by Charles II to command the King's forces in Scotland in 1653. He was defeated at Dunkeld in 1654, arrested by Monck in 1655, and excepted from Oliver Cromwell's "grace and pardon". He was Chancellor of the University of Glasgow from 1660 and Lord Chancellor of Scotland from 1661 until his death.
