William Coulter

Celtic guitarist William Coulter is a renowned performer, teacher, and recording artist. Since 1981 he has been exploring the world of traditional music as soloist and with ensembles including Isle of Skye, Orison, and the Coulter-Phillips Ensemble.

Born in New Jersey in 1959 and trained on piano and classical guitar, William's discovery of Celtic music led him to a MA in Ethnomusicology and a celebrated career as a Celtic guitarist. He teaches guitar at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and at several summer music including the National Guitar Summer Workshop, Alasdair Fraser's Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School, and the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop..
