[edit] Star of Indiana Drum & Bugle Corps
Bill Cook also pioneered one of the greatest drum & bugle corps to ever participate in DCI. In the early years, Star of Indiana became the first corps to make finals in their first competitive year, 1985. Shows like Roman Images, Belshazzar's Feast, and Medea: The Music of Barber and Bartok truly captivated and stretched the imaginations of the audience, as well as the judges. Even though the corps last fielded in 1993, they remain controversal, with many people pointing to them as the start of features and rule changes such as three-valved multi-key brass and interpretive design. Star of Indiana currently utilizes the broadway theatre in order to further the marching activity's blend to the theatrical in Blast! and Blast! 2.
