[edit] IB Program

Hinkley is home to the district's only International Baccalaureate program. It is the only school in the United States to offer an IB African History course[2], and one of only a handful to offer an IB Human Rights course[3].

In order to ease the 150 hour community service requirement of the IB Program, a student organization known as the Landmines Task Force was created. The group raises money and awareness regarding the international landmine problem, donating through the United Nations Association's Adopt-A-Minefield to help eradicate landmines in Mozambique. To date, the group has raised over $20,000[4]. The program was started by IB HL African History teacher Christine Sundberg, who has frequently had to fight persecution by the school's administration.
