William Baxter (botanist)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William Baxter (died c. 1836) made his first collection of plants in the south west of Western Australia between 1823 and 1825. In 1828–1829 he again collected plants in the same area for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney arranged by Charles Fraser. On his return they disagreed about the distribution of the collected material. The genus Baxteria was named in his honour. He is thought to have died about 1836.
