William B. Wood (diplomat)

William Braucher Wood (b. August 7, 1950) is a United States diplomat, currently serving as ambassador to Colombia. Prior to this position, he served as Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs and as chief U.S. negotiator before the United Nations Security Council. He has been nominated to be the next U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, replacing Ronald Neumann pending Senate confirmation.[1]

He has served in Uruguay, Argentina, El Salvador, Italy, and in the US delegation to NATO. He completed his undergraduate studies at Bucknell University in 1973 and a MBA from George Washington University in 1975.
