From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William Avery (born August 8, 1979 in Augusta, Georgia) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing in the German basketball league for ALBA Berlin.

Avery, a 6' 2" point guard from Duke University, was selected 14th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1999 NBA Draft, when he left college after his sophomore year. He was considered a draft bust, never having lived up to expectations. He averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 assists in 142 games over three seasons for the Timberwolves.

He was not signed by an NBA team when his 3-year contract expired in 2002, and since then, Avery has also played with Hapoel Tel-Aviv and Hapoel Jerusalem (Israel), Azovmash Mariupol (Ukraine), and Panionios Athens (Greece).
