William "Billy" Linfoot, inductee to the Polo Hall of Fame in 1994, was an influential horse trainer.
Among the horsemen whom Linfoot inspired were Marvin Roberts, father of Monty Roberts who wrote "The Man Who Listens to Horses", and Pat Parelli of "Natural Horse-Man-Ship" fame. Actor Tommy Lee Jones learned how to play polo by riding with Linfoot.
