Will Goodhand

Will Goodhand, born 13th June 1979, is best known in the UK as a contestant on the British version of 'reality TV' show 'Beauty and the Geek', and the winner of "A Face For Radio", a national radio competition to find new presenter talent.

Will featured as one of the show's so-called 'geeks', reaching Episode 5 and gaining some renown for entering into an apparently romantic dalliance with one of the 'beauties', Elissa.

Prior to this, Will had twice been dubbed 'Tory Boy' by the British press. His first appearance was as the subject of a little-remembered story in 'The Sun' and 'The Daily Telegraph' in 1996. Will had publicly harangued soon-to-be Prime Minister Tony Blair at a youth conference for 6th-form students staged in Westminster, gaining a somewhat bemused response from the then Leader of the Opposition. More famously, Goodhand became front-page news in 'The Sun' in 1999, during his time at Christ Church College, Oxford, when he was snapped kissing politician's wife and notorious 'battle-axe' Christine Hamilton during an allegedly debauched Oxford University Conservative Association termly dinner. This led to a reunion between the two on Channel 4 television show The Big Breakfast' and a date with a Page 3 girl from 'The Sun'. Goodhand was notorious within Oxford circles for his often hair-raising, but nonetheless creative attempts at being funny, in particular the delivery of deadpan puns, an experience he used to lay the foundations for his more polished stand-up routine of today. A rather toe-curling early example is a chat-up line delivered shortly after his brush with Christine Hamilton; "They don't call me Goodhand for nothing, you know".

Goodhand swiftly dropped his political ambitions after Oxford, attempting to set up a business, write and become a stand-up comedian. He has proved as determined as ever to capitalise upon his latest and most convincing brush with fame in 'Beauty and the Geek', offering himself for personal appearances, TV appearances and hen nights. He has also gained some publicity for a range of T-shirts bearing the slogan 'Geek It Like Goodhand'. Most recently, he and the other 'geeks' recorded their own FIFA World Cup anthem for release prior to the tournament.

In December 2006, Will won a "A Face for Radio", a competition with Core (radio station) [1], a national digital radio station. This involved learning to be a presenter while building a network of friends and supporters using Myspace [2] and a series of challenges from raising money for charity to learning to podcast. Will won the competition by attracting the most votes from Core listeners, and his prize is a contract to present a new show on Core. His show is Mondays from 10pm to 12am on Core (radio station).
