Wilfred J. Baker (Dunfermline, Fife, June 29, 1900 - March 5, 2007) may have been one of the last veterans of the First World War, and the last remaining Scottish veteran.
Baker joined the Royal Navy just after his 18th birthday in 1918 (start date of service awaiting verification: if Baker did join before the armistice, he would become the last Scottish veteran), retiring as a lieutenant commander in 1948, after which he worked at a miners' hostel in Dalkeith.
At the time of his death he had four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. His wife May died in 1983, aged 87, shortly after their 60th wedding anniversary.
Baker died in Newlands Care Home in Dunfermline, aged 106.
