[edit] Gameplay
Wildlife Park 2 is a simulation game, similar to a Tycoon game. As with most Tycoon games, Wildlife Park 2 involves various building option, such as building lakes, creating enclosures, and adding animals. The player is presented with a fully 3-D environment to manipulate through. With 50 animals the player has almost unlimited possibilties, and the gameplay is fairly easy to understand yet hard enough to be a challenge.

[edit] Researchable Animals
Extinct animals must be researched. To do so, the player must be on a map with genetic finds. When a genetic find is found by the player, the player must place a researcher's building closeby. The researcher will slowly research the animal, and soon enough, there are extinct animals.
[edit] Environment Animals
These are animals that are non-adoptable and move around in the wildlife park environment.
- Vulture
- Rats - they appear when animal food is left out for too long
- Butterflies
- Flies - also appear when food is left

[edit] Scenario Animals
These are extinct animals that appear in the Missions, but not in Free Play.
- Giant Crocodile - in one scenario, 'The monster crocodile', the myth of a gigantic crocodile named 'Gustave' is confirmed when he attacks a small village. The player has to capture Gustave, rescue the farm animals and nurse them back to health.

[edit] Criticism
Wildlife Park 2 has been heavily criticised for copying Zoo Tycoon 2, as Wildlife Park copied Zoo Tycoon. A number of people have been put off from this simple factor and a small fraction of people are against Deep Silver. On the Wildlife Park 2 official website under 'Press' there is a comparison to Zoo Tycoon 2, claiming that Wildlife Park is better. The comparison was done by a popular German Gaming magazine, PC Games. However, some of these facts are incorrect - for example, Zoo Tycoon 2 is stated to have 30 animals - with all expansions and downloads it has 98. Another part of the website, including a download link to the Wildlife Park 2 trailer has the words 'More fun than a barrel of monkeys'. This may be referring to the Zoo Tycoon 2 trailer, of which two gorillas run around from the biome brush. The same page also claims that the player has to manage a complex ecosystem, but the behaviors are slightly downgraded from the competition, as Wildlife Parks animations are heavily outnumbered by Zoo Tycoon 2s. The review also claim that you can control the water system more effciently that in Zoo Tycoon, although this is not entirely true as Wildlife Parks water pumps can do almost the same thing as Zoo Tycoons biome brush, besides water takes longer in Wildlife Park. However, considering that this is compared to the zoo tycoon 2 without expansion packs, would make most of Wildlife Park 2 claims true.
Another issue in Wildlife park 2 that has put some people off is the system requirement - it requires a very precise graphics card that is inconvenient if one does not have it. Players have purchased the game - only to find the error message notifying the user they need 'Vertex' and 'Pixelshader 1.1'.

[edit] Notes and References
- ^ 'Saurians' are actually marine iguanas. Deep Silver were most likely referring to 'saurus', Latin for 'lizard'.
- ^ The black panther is like albino animals in the game - it is a variation texture of a leopard or jaguar.
