Wilderness School is an independent, non-denominational Christian girls school in Medindie, South Australia. It was founded by the Brown sisters in 1884. The school celebrated its 120th birthday in 2004.
Wilderness is a kindergarten to year 12 school, and also caters for year 13. The student population is about 600, including about 60 boarders.
The principal of the school until the end of 2005 was Carolyn Grantskalns. She resigned at the end of the year to take up the position of principal at Lowther Hall in Victoria. Judy Dyson acted in the role of principal until the new appointee Jane Danvers was available to take up the position in term two of 2006.
In 2000 Wilderness changed their uniform, and became one of the first traditional private school in Adelaide to allow girls to wear pants instead of the traditional winter skirt. However five years down the track, very few girls have taken advantage of this opportunity.
