Thiola 'Big T' Rayfield (Parton) sings for a hard-working band that makes its living on the road playing one bar after another. 'Big T' is swept off her feet by a charming club owner Justice (Busey). Their relationship quickly spirals downhill when 'Big T' discovers a dark side to Justice. The band members cannot ignore the obvious signs that 'Big T' is being physically abused by Justice due to his voilent rages. They try to persuade 'Big T' to leave Justice and go back on the road with the band. Justice won't let her go, setting off a series of plot twists that ultimately lead to murder and a shocking conclusion.
