[edit] License tagging for Image:Picture 052.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Picture 052.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions do not assert the notability of their subjects and have been reverted or removed. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. --Dakota 21:41, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles, as you did with Matt Williams (teenager). If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. -- Scientizzle 21:54, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. [edit] Issues

Also, there is a more serious issue that I'd like to discuss: uploading images. You attempted to upload Image:Picture 053.jpg, but that picture already existed! The image was previously a picture of the platform at a Yekaterinburg Metro station (which was in the article!), and it shouldn't be replaced with your image.

Remember: always attach a license to any image you upload! If you took a picture of yourself, release into Public Domain. If you are the "author" of the picture, this will be good for all involved. And make sure than an image exists before overwriting it. An image called "Willno51.jpg" might be appropriate. It's okay for you to have your own image on Wikipedia. But please release it under the GFDL.

Also, you shouldn't put that you're a "Teenager from England" in the Matt Williams article. That might be true, but suppose that ALL people named "Matt Williams" were listed in that article. Then it would be huge! So Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while it isn't paper, we only include the most important people named "Matt Williams." If you do something really important, you might have an article one day! But until then, please understand that you don't have a place in Wikipedia yet. I don't either. :)

On the same note, do not use your Wikipedia user page as a myspace. If you have a user name and a user page, it is generally expected that you help Wikipedia become a better encyclopedia. If you're using your user page as a "home page" for other people to see, it may be deleted. I'm not saying that you're doing that; but please don't if you are.

Thanks for reading, and please help Wikipedia by contributing to it! Happy editing! Gracenotes T ยง 02:25, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
