[edit] History of Khuzestan
Hi William,
I was the one who wrote the History of Khuzestan article you've just discovered. It's quite wrong in places, as I found out when I ordered a copy of disssertation on the recent history. I just haven't had the time or energy to go back and fix things. It's especially discouraging to work on because Zereshk, a nationalist Iranian editor, won't let me link this article to any of the other Khuzestan articles, because he contradicts his version of history. Which is, of course, the TRUTH <g>.
The dissertation is called The History of Khuzestan, 1878-1925, University of Chicago, Mostaf Ansari, 1974. The author worked through amazing amounts of British diplomatic correspondence to figure out exactly what was happening before Reza Shah descended on the province. Or, what was happening from the British POV. He also seems to have sifted through mounds of Persian provincial records. His discussion of the mechanics of tax-farming is particularly interesting.
I've got hundreds of articles on my watchlist, many of which need work, but I'll see if I can make time to correct my earlier errors. Contact me if you have questions. Zora 03:15, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
