re: Comments about Chalke - I am aware that he is involved in global initiatives in opening up the emergent dialogue. He is quoted frequently in Brian McLaren's "The Secret Message of Jesus." His name crops up more in convesations than most of the others listed as influential.
re: Tony Jones - His work is known among youth ministers but the theologian most cited by emergent folks tends to be N.T. Wright. The books that are cited as opening up the dialogue to the general public would be McLaren's A New Kind of Christian.
There's also a dynamic movement called Fresh Expressions getting underway in the UK you might want to explore. Other UK leaders who seem to have made a signficant impact include Kester Brewin and Ian Mobsby. Hope that helps.

Yes, I like that quite a bit actually. We should put it prominently on the "edit this page" screen. Seraphimblade Talk to me Please review me! 15:43, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Advice
Well, you've done the most important things so far. Remember to keep cool, and keep comments on the content rather than contributor, as it appears you've been doing on the talk so far. What I'd do, since the dispute seems to be largely between the two of you, is to request a third opinion. Sometimes, getting a fresh set of eyes can help to break a deadlock. [edit] Helping out
I am posting a suggestion to the article talk page. Please give it a try. If this fails, it may be helpful to solicit wider community input with WP:RFC, or seeking out a neutral party to mediate the conflict from WP:MEDCAB. Just some thoughts. Be well!! Vassyana 15:59, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Sorry
I am so sorry, but your username was very similar to another user (User:Will314159). I really feel like a jerk. Please forgive me. I'll write about my mistake on the AN/I right away. I now realize that you have nothing to do with the other Will, the topics that you guys edit are so radically different that even two seconds of investigation on my part would have made me realize my mistake. Again, I'm sorry.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 07:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Excellant idea
Your idea to offer to revert your own last change on the article is a great idea. It's a wonderful way to show good faith and concern for other editors. Your ability to respond in a positive fashion to criticism and adjust your attitude and behaviour is wonderful. Thank you for being so solution focused and flexibile. [edit] Christianity Assessments
I noticed that you left a note on the page of User:Badbilltucker regarding assessments. I get the impression he is at best AWOL right now, and am trying to take up some of his duties. I reviewed the list you looked at, and I get the definite impression that it is far from complete, but simply the beginnings of a full list. I am myself constructing a similar list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints/Articles, and think that what he may have been doing was, as it were, starting from the top down. I don't know what he was doing, but this is what I've been doing and I think it kinda works. What you might do is go into the most high-level category you think relevant and add the appropriate banner to articles. In some cases, it might not be Christianity, but maybe Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Holidays, or some other one on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory/Culture/Philosophy and religion page. Then, when you finish a given category, place all the articles that you have tagged with the Christianity banner on the list as being articles in that category. I do know categorization right now is more than a bit of a mess, and that some articles are in at best unusual categories, so that strikes me as being the best way to go. Good luck. [edit] Dave Green
Dave Green has been on a vengeful trip against me for a very long time and he is bent on doing anything he can in order to attack me. So yes, your assessment of his link is correct. I also do not believe that any unknown author should be able to just post critical links in an article just because he has something critical to say about an article. I have no idea who Dave Green is and I never met him. Any deep-linking to his own website is totally uncalled for and "un-wiki-like" if you ask me. It's obviously self-promoting since you even noticed the same thing only after a few days of being around here. I filed another complaint about his spamming and hopefully someone will finally do something about it.
By the way I appreciate your attitude towards me so far..I am hoping we can continue to cooperate and take this into a productive relationship. --Virgil Vaduva 20:38, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hypocrisy?
-
-
- Not to start up anything, but I told Dave Green that his posting of his article to the Brian McLaren entry might be inappropriate for wikipedia references as well UNTIL I saw that Virgil did the same thing by offering his NON-published critical article under the John Calvin wikipedia entry (Virgil Vaduva (2005-04-05). "The Right to Heresy: A Critical look at Calvin's Geneva". Retrieved on 2006-10-30.) To be consistent, I request that Virgil remove his link from the Calvin entry -- Thanks Roderick E 03:48, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help Needed
{{help me}}
In the emerging church movement article, we need to move the lists of Prominent Figures in the emerging church movement as well as the list of Prominent Critics to the lists found in Wikipedia Project Christianity. Both lists started out as samplings of prominent names pro and con but they have grown out of control. Now it seems almost any qualifications suffice for participants in the movement to want to be listed or to list their friends. I can no longer police it. I say let the lists become articles of their own linked to the emerging church movement article and we can link to them. The problem is we only seem to have newbies and me (the least tech-savvy editor in Wikipedia) working on the article now. I have tried to follow admin directions regarding techinical issues before and found myself hopelessly incompetent. We need someone who will either do the job for us or patiently take us by the hand and lead us through the process until it is completely finished. Help!Will3935 16:30, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you explain more clearly what you're trying to do, I may be able to help. Are you trying to split an article? If so, which article exactly are you trying to split? --ais523 16:35, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I"m not completely sure if you would call it a split. There are two long lists within the emerging church movement article. One is titled "prominent figures" and the other "Prominent Critics." Both lists have grown to long and it is a battle to keep growth to a minimum. We would like to take both lists out of the article and make individual lists out of each (we would end therefore with a total of three lists). The titles of the new articles would be "List of Prominent Figures in the Emerging Church Movement" or shorter, "List of Emerging Church Movement Leaders" for one and "List of Prominent Critics of the Emerging Church Movement" for the other. I have seen several lists of this sort while looking around the pages of Wikipedia's Project Christianity. Thanks so much for offering to help!!Will3935 18:17, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've done the split for you (it's pretty much a straightforward split); you can see the newly-split articles linked from the 'see also' section. Feel free to improve, etc., as appropriate; I haven't done much more than a simple split, so there's probably some more work to do. Hope that helps! --ais523 18:38, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks!!!Will3935 18:45, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- (Sorry for the late reply, I was offline and only just got your message) The sort of sources required wouldn't be blog links, but things like outside press coverage (most likely, in most cases) or academic papers (for most subjects less likely). I didn't check the links while I was doing the split, but you're right, they don't seem to fit the definition of a reliable source, so I've tagged the 'critics' page with {{citecheck}}. --ais523 13:25, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Infromal mediation
Did you still require mediation on Brian McLaren? I'm just checking t see if there's still a problmem, because on checking the page, it seems as though things are going much more smoothly now. Please let me know if you still need the MedCab case open. Vassyana 19:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'll close the mediation case for now. If you run into any problems, please let me know. I will help or find another editor to help out with the situation. I am very pleased you and Virgil worked things out and both learned from the experience. It's very nice to see you both productive together. Keep working to improve Wikipedia. ;) Vassyana 03:37, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
