[edit] September 2006 arrest

Psycoactive mushrooms are not "narcotic." A narcotic is a painkiller or depressent.

As for the 2nd hole: I saw it on TV but am having problems finding a picture of it. Anyway, here's an indication of how beat up the guitar is. And here's a brief description of the guitar and Willie's affection for it. --KQ

Just a peice of triva. It is claimed that Willie Nelson is one of the choosen few who claim to have smoked dope on the roof of the White House (with Billy Carter apparently) during the Carter administration. Truly a great honor!

I believe it was Chip Carter with whom Willie smoked on the roof of the White House.Merrystandish 20:34, 26 February 2007 (UTC)merrystandish

[edit] Cecil Teague/banditos/heidelburgh

Dose any of this ring a bell rumor has it you may know some of my family. Panhead, timpkin and my grandfather were good friends.

[edit] Jewish ancestry?

I once read that Willie Nelson is either Jewish or has Jewish ancestry. Can anyone confirm this?Flannel 09:50, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

I thought he was part Native American.

[edit] Link mistake to Ballad of Willie Nelson

After posting link to the song 'Ballad of Willie Nelson' , I read that that was improper for wikipedia edits to link to one's own site - which I did. It said to suggest it here and IF another wants to post the external link, then and only then is it acceptable. The link is to http://hunkasaurus.com/ then click music, then click 30. There is no copyright conflict. Musea 02:31, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

The list of Willie's songs / the list of his gospel songs should be tidied up; some of those songs shouldn't be there, or there should be two lists of his best songs, one for the ones he wrote and one for the ones he covers

[edit] Django Reinhardt as an influence

[edit] Pictures?

Does anyone have any pictures of Willy when he was younger and had red hair? So people know why he was called the Red Haired Stranger? Bcody 22:39, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Martial arts

I noticed in an upcoming American Masters show on PBS, and from sources on the internet that Willie Nelson practices martial arts and Yoga. He has practiced Kung Fu for a long time, and he has a black belt in Tae Kwan Do.

[edit] Neutrality

Some things in the "Popular image" section do not seem neutral to me. Also there are parts that seem irrelevant or insubstantiated.

"several million of his fellow Americans... would like to see the 73-year-old muscian-businessman-philanthropist-actor-environmentalist elected to the Presidency of the United States sometime in the near future" REally?

"admirable social and political activities" I realize I come from a conservative veiwpoint, but "admirable activities" is a normative statement, and not neutral.

"elderly, marijuana-smoking old-school cowboy-hippie troubadour" Again, pretty loaded words.

[edit] Place of birth

The intro says Willie was "born and raised in Abbott, Texas."

The next paragraph says he was "born on April 30, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Abbot, Texas, about 60 miles south of Fort Worth."

[edit] Leon Payne's real name...

is Le Payne. He has a daughter whose name is Myrtie Le Payne. S.K. (from Belgium) 81.244.39.234

[edit] Songs Section

I don't understand why there's a section of songs he sang; those songs are listed on the album pages. Songs he wrote would make a little more sense... ?? --Renice 00:04, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A note about taxes

I deleted the label at the bottom of the article regarding "tax evader." That label is in my opinion entirely inappropriate here. In the United States, tax evasion is a crime defined at 26 U.S.C. § 7201. The subject of this article has never even been accused of tax evasion, much less convicted of any such thing. Owing back taxes -- even lots of back taxes -- is not the same as tax evasion. Yours, Famspear 02:28, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
