[edit] clarify please?

I came across this article while surfing random articles - not being a rugby fan, the "infamous 99 call" makes no sense to me. I have links for other terms like "try" to help me understand them, but not 99. Searching, I could find no unlinked article for it either. If it's so infamous as to deserve comment, could an explanation (even a brief one) be added please?
