When visiting the belfry at St. Mary's Parish Church at Greasley, Notts a few years ago I noticed that a William Henry Johnson V.C. took in an interesting bellringing performance. As I am a very active bellringer I am most interested to konow more about this fine gentleman as I believe that he is the only bellringer to have received the ultimate award for bravery. More information about his background etc would be appreciated. rgds Ian G. Campbell Bellringer, St. Paul's Cathedral, London
