[edit] Only European Survivor ?

Was William Brydon really the only European survivor (see http://emilychesley.com/flan_bio/mikelife11b.htm and http://www.theestimate.com/public/100501_dossier.html)? I think it would be more accurate to say that he was the only European to survive the trek from Kabul to Jalalabad without spending time in captivity, etc. However, I don't know anything about Afghan history (or British history in Afghanistan) so I'm not sure what the real story is. I did go through various versions, but in the end I decided to follow CNN for the DYK. It looked like the most reliable source of all -- Lost ^(talk) 04:31, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
