[edit] regroup after previous edits

... attempting to restore some structure and credibility to the article after the last edits that looked like vandalism, but were so thoroughly drenched in a continuous stream of laudatory superlatives to justify a charitable assumption that it was instead a maladroit attempt at turning the article into a company prospectus, marketing brochure and PR platform. It literally induced a mild sensation of nausea to see so many peacock feathers stuffed into such a small article. dr.ef.tymac 01:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I work at Wildbrain, and you're right -- there was some editing of this article that didn't conform at all to Wikipedia style. I think it might've been done by someone here who wasn't familiar with the way that Wikipedia works. Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and make some factual corrections, while adhering as closely as possible to the policy for autobiographical entries. The info in the article is currently outdated and needs corrections, so hopefully I can do that without violating Wikipedia standards. Mattymatt 19:54, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] new company name

Starting in 2007, the company changed its name from "Wild Brain Inc" to "W!LDBRAIN" -- that's all uppercase, with an exclamation point. I'm not sure what the best course of action is for renaming or relocating this article. Is that something that needs to be voted on? Is it even necessary? Mattymatt 19:59, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Mattymatt. A help question was started on this question. Hopefully that will help see here. dr.ef.tymac 20:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Follow-up: In addition to whatever responses from the help desk, you may also wish to conisder that an article re-title from "Wild Brain" to "W!LDBRAIN" may impede the effectiveness of the various search and linking features within WP, as well as present some other difficulties. There are of course workarounds, though, but it's just something to consider. Also, it would help to provide a link to a press release or other kind of cite to let readers know about the particulars of the name/logo change etc. As far as a vote or other prerequisites, however, that does not appear to be necessary. Thanks for helping to improve the article! dr.ef.tymac 20:51, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Based on the help desk advice and on Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#Special_characters, it sounds as though it might be best to leave it as it is, and to not indulge the special character. (For example, putting punctuation in the article about I_♥_Huckabees results in a title that can look awfully strange.) Keeping the article as "Wild Brain" -- two normally-capitalized words -- seems to involve the least amount of work and confusion for readers. I will create redirects at Wildbrain and W!LDBRAIN, which hopefully will reduce the misunderstanding created by the unusual name. I'll also look around for sources regarding the name/logo change.
