Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue is a video game available for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The Xbox version (as well as Microsoft) has came under ridicule for being backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 in the inital batch of games that were compatible for the Xbox 360 whilst some of its more popular games remained unplayable on the console. It is viewed as a minor licensed title which has little appeal to the hardcore gamers who buy Xbox products. However, it's been reported that the forwards compatibility of the game on the Xbox 360 was a side effect of emulation of a different game. It was supposed to be released for Nintendo Gamecube, but was cancelled early.

The game has been heavily criticized by the gaming press. X-Play dubbed it a Game You Should Never Buy ^[1] next to Monster Garage: The Game and Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. IGN gave it a 4/10 rating, and XGP Gaming rating it a 4 out of 10.

Decent reviews, which mainly point out that the game was being geared towards children, where given out by TeamXbox (3.8/5) and the British Official Xbox Magazine (6.7/10.)
