[edit] Okay, me too
As time permits, I'll contribute. I have edited articles on Kensington Market, The Annex, Koreatown, and The Junction. Avt_tor 20:55 19 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Don River Article
Anyone know what happened to the Don River article? I was editing it recently, and now it appears to have disappeared.

[edit] One More In For Helping On Toronto
Okay, I've added my name to the list. See my user page for details of articles I've started or contributed to, about Toronto and on signifigant Canadian issues.
One question/ provocation: Wikipedia lags badly on specific articles about Toronto parks. I wrote the second one (AFAIK) on Trinity Bellwoods Park. Prior to that only High Park was written, and since then barely a half dozen have been started. More are needed, no?
Finally, please sign & date your comments! And keep writing and editing on Toronto. :) Cheers, Madmagic 04:59, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rivers of Toronto
Recently, a user User:Fat_pig73 added a category called Rivers of Toronto and changed the cat for all the rivers going through Toronto from Rivers of Ontario to Rivers of Toronto. I think this is an unnecessary subcategorization. For one thing there are only three rivers that go through Toronto, the Humber, the Don and the Rouge. All of them originate outside of Toronto, therefore you can't categorize them as exclusively Toronto rivers. The other watercourses are named creeks - transboundary creeks (Mimico Creek, Etobicoke Creek), tributaries to the three rivers (Taylor-Massey Creek (Don), German Mills Creek (Don)). Only Highland Creek is exclusively a Toronto watershed.
So I think this makes the category a very small subset, thus non-notable. I am putting this here for discussion for Toronto Wikipedians before I nominate it for deletion. Atrian 00:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Toronto Island Ferry Services
This article is in need of some solid cleanup by someone familiar with the material. A photograph would also be a great addition. Radagast 18:47, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team cooperation
Hello. I'm a member of the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, which is looking to identify quality articles in Wikipedia for future publication on CD or paper. We recently began assessing articles using these criteria, and we are are asking for your help. As you are most aware of the issues surrounding your focus area, we are wondering if you could provide us with a list of the articles that fall within the scope of your WikiProject, and that are either featured, A-class, B-class, or Good articles, with no POV or copyright problems. Do you have any recommendations? If you do, please post your suggestions at the listing of all active Places WikiProjects, and if you have any questions, ask me in the Work Via WikiProjects talk page or directly in my talk page. Thanks a lot! Titoxd(?!? - help us) 18:28, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Scarborough
- Looking for input over at Talk:Scarborough, Ontario. What do you call someone from Scarborough? Is "Scarberian" a pejorative term? If so, Scarboroughite doesn't sound right. Would appreciate the assistance of all Scarboroughians. Skeezix1000 12:59, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your thoughts on Binns
Hi Toronto Wikipedians, I just noticed Binns in recent changes - it is apparently a Toronto-based company. The article is currently very advert-ish, I have tagged it with {{advert}}, but I'm unsure if they meet the notability guidlines for companies - it's conceivable if, as the article says, they have won international awards. I'm wondering whether you guys think this company is notable enough to have an article, or whether they're just trying to use wikipedia for free advertising (I'm inclined towards the latter, given that it is the sole contribution from User:Binns.) -- AJR | Talk 22:13, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
The guideline states "The company or corporation has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself." There is no online source referenced for material here. I think you've answered your own question. Avt tor 17:01, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
I don't think much has changed with Binns, and someone has removed the {{advert}} tag.--Stetson 04:56, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Beach v. Beaches
- Thoughts on this very "important" debate would be much appreciated at The Beaches → The Beach (Toronto), so as to achieve some consensus on a go-forward basis. --Skeezix1000 17:31, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Toronto Neighbourhood Pages
I've noted on the Toronto discussion page that there is some inconsistancy and perhaps contradiction between some Toronto Neighbourhood pages. Perhaps the editors who are a part of this project could do some work to make them constant. Maybe also something like a unified format for the neighbourhood pages would be nice? I'm not sure how these things normally work, but just a suggestion. I've created a page for Corso Italia and expanded Earlscourt to clarify the connection between the two. (Both articles are still stubs.) If anyone else is interested, I'd be happy to work with some others on the Toronto Neighbourhoods on the whole. I don't think more info needs to be added to most of them (at least the ones that exist already), but unity and consistancy would be good.--Stetson 05:07, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've just joined this project, as I just came across it. I created Template:Toronto Neighbourhood Geography earlier today, and have been going through the Toronto neighbourhoods (via the list here) to add the template, as well as update and clean up as possible. I agree about unity and consistency being needed; are there any guidelines in place, or are we still touch and go? –Dvandersluis 23:50, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Canadian city naming convention
To try to get a good consensus, I am posting at all Canadian regional wikiprojects: Wikipedia talk:Canadian wikipedians' notice board#Canadian city naming convention. Thanks! -- Usgnus 21:46, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request for expansion
If it's not too much trouble, could one of you take a look at Fairbank Memorial Park? I added a bit of info on a land development scandal with the York council, but none of the major Toronto papers have a free archive going back that far, and since I'm just a dumb American stumbling into this after the fact, someone more familiar with local politics (like y'all) might be able to clarify and improve it. Thanks! -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 23:17, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] XXXXXXX, Ontario v. XXXXXXX, Toronto
Is this still a priority? Neither East York nor Scarborough follow this convention, and I'm hesitant to move them (partially because I'm not convinced of the logic behind this policy, possible because every change to the Scarborough article seems to be contentious.) WilyD 12:57, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hello Everybody
Since I've been doing some work on Toronto articles (mostly Scarborough, Ontario and East York, Ontario I thought I'd join the project. One thing I am interested in is doing photos for articles - so if anybody wants a photo for an article (that can be taken within about 30 km of Greenwood & Danforth - I don't own a car) please feel free to drop by my talk page and make a request. WilyD 20:44, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Photos needed
I was hoping the project would have a "photos needed" section, but all I see is a section called "photos without articles". Not being a member of the project, I am reluctant to create a new section to the project. My request -- over at WP:EiC, we have several school articles for which I wish we had a picture of the school. Here is the list of Toronto (or GTA <gasp!>) schools missing a decent picture:
- Cawthra Park Secondary School in Mississauga
- Clarkson Secondary School in Mississauga
- A. Y. Jackson Secondary School (Toronto) in Toronto
- North Toronto Collegiate Institute in Toronto
If anyone happens to live nearby and can provide a picture, I'd appreciate it! --Stephane Charette 17:54, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have http://www.seemsartless.com/index.php?pic=532 of North Toronto Collegiate, but its not really a representative shot of the school. I'll try and get a better shot and add it to the article. Basho 04:11, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject userbox?
Is there a userbox created for this wikiproject? If not, I'd be glad to make one (being a member of Wikiproject Userboxes as well). –Dvandersluis 23:51, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Update: I went ahead and created a userbox at Wikipedia:WikiProject Toronto/Userbox. Hopefully it fits what would be wanted here! :) It doesn't currently add to any category, but if a WP:Toronto members category exists (or is created), it can easily be updated for that.

[edit] Project directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 18:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 21:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A plea for help: United Synagogue Day School
An editor, User:Pan Dan, has tagged United Synagogue Day School, a private Conservative Jewish Day school in Toronto, as not being notable. I am having trouble proving its notability. Any help to keep it would be appreciated. --YUL89YYZ 23:51, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Six Toronto articles for deletion
I don't know if the people here have noticed that Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Woodbine Avenue proposes to delete six Toronto street articles. --Scott Davis Talk 10:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, those articles were mostly minor Markham streets, except Woodbine Avenue. Woodbine is quite long and significant through York Region, plus there's the southern portion in T.O. which is significant enough for a subway stop. The Woodbine Avenue article might be restored through WP:DRV if someone can put together a strong case. Dl2000 00:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
