Hi all; this looks really great. Bring it on. ♥ Her Pegship♥ 22:05, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Regexes that were used...
The main regex is this statement... I know it is long and unwieldly, but it runs just fine for my purposes. Also, I have a fully commented version of this on my computer, so making adjustments to this will take no time at all.
(\|\s*[Nn]ame\s*=\s*\w)|(\|\s*[Aa]uthor\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)| (\|\s*[Pp]ublisher\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)|(\|\s*[Rr]elease[\s_]date\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)| (\|\s*[Gg]enre\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)|(\|\s*[Cc]ountry\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)| (\|\s*[Ll]anguage\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)|(\|\s*[Ii]sbn\s*=[\s\[\{]*\w)
Basically it looks for the following:
- Feel free to suggest adding or removing items.
- "name"
- "author"
- "publisher"
- "release date"
- "genre"
- "country"
- "language"
- "isbn"

I am searching in the "what links here, of the Infobox Book template. As a result I must filter out all the novels. This regex is how I do so.
\}\}.*?([Nn]ovel[s\s])
looks for novel after "}}" (meaning after the infobox book template) The reason for this is that the template when subst'd has in a comment the word novel. Eagle talk 03:33, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Note: I have a few more that are used for estoric cases. For now two is enough. Eagle talk 03:34, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] To do list
Do we cross these out as we work or delete them? Grey Shadow 08:55, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've been deleting - however False Hits get moved to the bottem - I would cross out and comment anything you have problems of issues with. !! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:55, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for asking!! my mistake... please don't cross out anything. I am unable to automatically sort crossed out items :)... unless you want to manually sort 1000 items :) Eagle talk 23:13, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Adding thing on not crossing items out to instructions :) cheers Eagle talk 23:13, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answers! In regards to infobox novel covers, I'd make that a seperate list. The other information is mostly findable either on the web or at a library. Covers are not as easy to do. Grey Shadow 00:12, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ok, I regenerated a second list...
The list got rid of problems with having articles from other "non-mainspace" locations such as 'User:' 'Wikipedia' 'User talk:' 'Talk:' ect. Please continue racking up the false hits. I really do try to fix them!!!
Current todo... get this list sorted alphabetically (can't spell it... but you know what I mean :) and please forgive my bad spelling...)
Please note... all users of this list I will be gone for One (1) week I will be back next sunday (16 July 2006) I am sorry! Eagle talk 05:09, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A thought
Does anyone mind if make up a sort of rainy day list?
I believe that we're looking for 1st edition information on these books and few of them are going to take longer than others to finish due to how old they are or the fact that the 1st edition was in a foriegn language. LOC and the British Library are excellent sources but they don't have everything. Germany doesn't have an English translation yet and India's Library catalog isn't even on-line (at least not that I could find). So 1st editions that these places may have could take longer to get the details out of.
I think this could really help clean-up at least the top part of the list and I know there are going to more.
Thoughts, comments, suggestions??? Jask99 19:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
