[edit] Our own Portal?

Dogears proposed an idea that's been rattling around in my head for a bit too; a Portal for the project. To that end, I've created a sandbox, PortalNRHP. Try out different ideas and such. When we have something presentable, we can move it to the mainspace. Oh, and a name for it. Possible ideas:

  • Portal:U.S. Historic preservation
  • Portal:U.S. Historic Places
  • Portal:U.S. Registered Historic Places
  • Portal:U.S. Cultural heritage
I say Portal:U.S. Registered Historic Places: It is the most descriptive title. IvoShandor 09:35, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Project Award

A WikiProject Award for this project has been proposed. As the project does not appear to have yet been notified, in order for the image to be improved an eventually selected, members of the projected are invited to comment on the proposal at Wikipedia:Barnstar and award proposals/New Proposals#WikiProject National Register of Historic Places Award proposal. Laïka 16:48, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

It is a nice image and good idea. People should come out and support this. We also need to figure out who is really still active in this project as well as archive this talk page, I think there is a bot that will do it. IvoShandor 22:52, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mackinac Island

I have recently finished a major overhaul of the Mackinac Island article, rated as B-class by this project. The history section has been greatly expanded and it now includes sections on historic places and architecture. Mr.Z-mantalk¢Review! 01:46, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Nice article. With only 500-odd year-round residents, it would be interesting to know how the locals deal with schooling their children. Is there a local one-room schoolhouse? A special ferry to a mainland town?--Hjal 06:26, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Attention: your award proposal has passed.

Hello. Your recent proposal for a new award for your WikiProject has passed. The discussion has been archived and the award added to the awards page here. Congratulations!

Things you can do:

  1. Create a template for the award to make it easier to use. Please see other templates for a style guide.
  2. Tag any images used in the award with Category:Wikipedia awards.
  3. Tag any templates used in the award with <noinclude>[[:Category:Award templates]]</noinclude>
  4. Place the award on your project page so people know you have an award.
  5. Start giving it out to users!

[edit] New ratings parameters

I've added a couple of new rating options to the {{WikiProject National Register of Historic Places}} template. They are:

  • Cat (or cat) - for categories
  • Dab (or dab) - for disambiguation pages

The later option's likely to get the most use, what with all the same name multiple listings. Cheerio! --Ebyabe 15:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

And one more
  • Redirect (or redirect) - for redirect pages --Ebyabe 20:00, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Funky, fresh and new

A couple project related GA noms. Ogle County Courthouse and Historic district (United States); one of our main articles, a fair number of project articles link to this one so it would be great to get it to GA and beyond. If it passes here I already have some expansion ideas for it's ride to FAC. IvoShandor 11:13, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A class

User:Ebyabe and I have been kind of talking about A class articles. A couple of weeks ago I started toying with the idea in my sandbox of A Class reviews and noms here at our project.

So far I have a short version of our A class criteria (which needs input, support and consensus before it becomes part of the project see it here:User:IvoShandor/Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/A-class criteria.

Also I have a draft version of our A-Class review page, just the basics so far, see it here: User:IvoShandor/Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/A class review

Input, please. IvoShandor 14:15, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
