[edit] Archive rather than delete

I think it may be good to archive items from this list rather than deleting them. This way we preserve the discussions someplace other than the article history. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:27, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is approval really necessary?

Is this prior approval system for Top-level importance really necessary? Why don't we just allow common sense based on the importance criteria already outlined on the project main page? Wouldn't it be better just to have disputes about Top-level status raised on this page? Bobo12345 10:34, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree. As in the case of Japan, some articles are clearly of top importance... I would suggest, for example that Japanese language, Japanese people, History of Japan, Culture of Japan, and Demographics of Japan all fall into this territory. I'm going to list them on the front page anyway, though. Dekimasu 08:57, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
That rule is in place so that random articles that really aren't of Top importance don't get listed as such. If they really are important, then the listing them to get approval is more of a procedural things since it's very likely no one will object. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:40, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
