[edit] Fair use image
I removed the Futurama screenshot, as it was a violation of Wikipedia's fair use policy. Please remember that fair use images can only be used in the article name space (the main page though is an exception)--TBCTaLk?!? 08:40, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] So, what issues do we have?
We have a Wiki project, but nothing to talk about? Let's try to think of something. Crazyswordsman 23:31, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] List of secondary characters from Futurama
I have started a page of less important characters from Futurama here, but cannot add until no-TV month /July (please shoot me, they do this every year) is over. I do plan to do every episode. This list is pretty much a list of one-time characters, but some may have appeared more than once. I notice Monique and Crushinator do not have entries on List of recurring robot characters from Futurama so I have added them to the secondary characters list until it is done. Any more questions can be posted on this page or my talk page. --WillMak050389 05:49, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have now finished making redirects for all production codes for all the episodes ( x ACV xx ) and I have cleaned up a lot of the episodes. I think we need a universal system of ordering the headlines (Trivia, References, and Quotes) as this differs from episode to episode. --WillMak050389 00:12, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Star Trek references
Someone has deleted the article, References to Star Trek in Futurama and I don't know how to figure out who did this or even why. Has this been added to a different article? Does anyone know? --WillMak050389 14:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Framegrabbing
Well it seems I'm the only one who posts new stuff on here, but I have another area I can help out in. I just got a program yesterday that allows me to framegrab so if there are any frames needed (I do have all 72 eps. of Futurama on DVD), feel free to request it here or on my talk page. --WillMak050389 01:01, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know abuot NTSC, but PAL is at 720x576, which is actually a ration of 5:4, the screenshots need to be opened in Photoshop and have it's aspect ration changed to 4:3. I can do that for you if you don't have Photoshop. --LorianTC 07:34, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have gotten the program VLC media player, of which I am able to set the aspect ratio to what I want (including 4:3). So I will not need to resize anything, but thank you for informing me because I have to remember to keep it at 4:3 if I'm taking screenshots. --WillMak050389 14:40, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Oh you just take screenshots while it is playing, I take the more complex method of decrypting the DVD and extracting the VOB files, open the VOB in VirtualDubMod, find the frame I want, copy it, open it in Photoshop, set the correct aspect ratio and save it as a JPEG. ;) --LorianTC 15:11, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I'm not sure what half of that means because I'm not too knowledgeable in computers and film, but I can take screenshots as I play the film or while it is paused (my method). This way I can get just one picture uploaded to my computer at the time I want it. If you would like to see an example of one I took look at the picture in the article Cygnoid. --WillMak050389 15:31, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lrrr
I think that once the Lrrr section is expanded the information should be included in the Omicron Persei VIII article along with more info on Ndnd and jrrr, possibly a section on "Influential and Significant Omicronians" rather than making its own page. Since almost all knowledge of Omicron Perseei 8 is based on Lrrr's appearances it seems like it would be very repetitive to have a seperate page for each. Just my 2 cents Stardust8212 13:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Alternative userbox template
I'm not a big fan of the current template; the long "futurama" would mar any user's page (if they're like me, and belong to several other groups). I've created an alternative: User:EVula/Userboxes/WPFU. If you could, please weigh in at the conversation over at Template talk:User WikiProject Futurama#Proposed alternate. Thanks. EVula 21:49, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] H.G Blob's Son and The Robot Elders
I have been adding to the list of secondary characters in futurama and i added his son, Brett Blob, to it instead of recurring non-robot. He would be classified under secondary since he is only in the one episode, "The Route of All Evil", and is not recurring. If he is notify me so i can change it. The Robot Elders should also be taken of the recurring list of robots i feel because "Fear of a Bot Planet" was the only episode they appeared in.
- One of them appeared in the jury at Zapp Brannigan's court marshal in "Brannigan, Begin Again" —Buddy13 03:46, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Seasons
We need to choose which system of dividing the episodes. Production seasons (of which there are four) or airing seasons (five). I personally think production seasons are easier to categorize, but what do the other members think? --WillMak050389 05:37, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would say the production seasons. I'll change it now if you want. Jasrocks Talk 06:15, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Families
I was just looking through some articles and saw that some of the characters in List of recurring non-robot characters from Futurama could be put into a family page (might need to make) or other characters pages.
Possible moves
- Move Celebrity heads in Celebrity heads (Futurama)
- Dwight Conrad and LaBarbara Conrad into the Conrad family (Futurama) or with Hermes Conrad article
- Cubert Farnsworth with Professor Hubert Farnsworth
Also people like Yancy Fry Jr. should not be in the recurring characters list, as they only appear in one episode. Thoughts? Jasrocks Talk 06:25, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- Yancy appears twice at least- "Luck of the Fryrish" and "Jurrasic Bark." Anyway I already made a page for Cubert.
Go Futurama! Sp3000 10:27, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cleanup
Nothing against Jasrocks, but i think this WikiProject page needs some cleanup. Look at WikiProject The Simpsons, I mean it doesn't have to look that good, but it could definitely look better. Also, I think "Nearly Started" in recent news section looks unprofessional and should be taken out. "Scope" and "Tasks" should probably be merged together. Please don't take this harshly, I'm just looking at places to improve this page. --WillMak050389 04:26, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yer no prob. I've been busy over the holidays (like usual). I'll do a bit but feel free to change anything! Cheers, Jasrocks Talk 10:03, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Episode Pages
I was looking into wikipedia policy for television episode pages after some of the recent debate on whether quotes should be included on the episode pages. [1] I think perhaps it would be a good idea for us to fully define what belongs on the futurama episode pages. I think a few quotes are ok but some of the articles have far too many. Perhaps it would be best to limit episode quotations to items which are particularly descriptive of plot twists or somewhat character defining, 'one off' lines or quotes which require extensive explanation of what is going on in the scene should probably be removed. I would like to know what everyone's opinion is on this matter as whatever we decide we will most likely be forced to defend that opinion in the future.
P.S. Jumbonium has been nominated at AfD so if you have an opinion on the matter speak your piece now. Stardust8212 17:00, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I Support the quotes idea as this is what should be done. Wikipedia, as being and encyclopedia (WP:ENC), should not have trivial quotes. But I believe important quotes should stay. --WillMak050389 17:03, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- OK, it's been over a week and the only comment thus far has been in support of my suggestion. If I don't see any objections in the near future I am going to get started on this. Speak now or forever hold your peace. Stardust8212 04:06, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Support, get it started now. Jasrocks (talk) 04:19, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm gonna start, which will probably conflict with the user currently adding more quotes to all the pages. Oh well, I link back here for edits regarding this and if anyone thinks I've removed too much/not enough feel free to help or revert, I won't take offense. Stardust8212 05:09, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Logos
I've started creating SVG logos for some Futurama companies and products for my own wiki, and I'm offering them for use here as well. On mine, they're PNG's, so let me know if I should upload the SVG or PNG versions here if you want to use them.
(see here, here, and here) —Buddy13 03:52, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think those logos are necessary here, we don't go as in-depth as a Futurama wiki would. Thanks though. --LorianTC 07:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Article standardization issues
I originally came here to talk about the first point, but I found a few other things. All of these need to be taken care of, and would be easy enough to do in a single edit.
- Currently, the episodes have sections that are titled "References". This is generally the name used for citations to back up claims within an article; instead, I'm going to rename it "Cultural references", which is more accurate.
- Reminder: TV show names should be in italics. Currently, the link to Futurama is unitalicized in the initial use ("_blank_ is episode 9 in season 1 of Futurama").
- Reminder: Episode names should appear in quotations. While this isn't done in the infobox, it also isn't done in the succession boxes. Both instances should probably be corrected.
- Reminder: Headings should only have a single capitalized word, unless the word is a proper noun. "Future Gadgets" should be "Future gadgets", "Professor Farnsworth's Inventions" should be "Professor Farnsworth's inventions", etc.
If anyone wants to help me (so that I'm not editing 72 articles all on my own...), that'd be great. I'm just going to start at the beginning and work my way through until I start hitting corrected articles. EVula 20:23, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I found {{Futurama navigation}} and just edited that. Pretty much takes care of the succession box issue. EVula 20:37, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- ...and I just wrapped up work on Season 1. See, it's just that easy, people! :-P EVula 20:49, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for getting this going EVula, all of this looks good, I've been meaning to get started on that cultural references thing myself. I'll try to work on it some later today. Stardust8212 20:53, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- No problem. Actually, the overall layout of the articles needs to be standardized; Trivia comes before Goofs on some articles, but not on others, while the Wikiquote box pretty much sits wherever it feels like. I'm most active in the Mortal Kombat WikiProject, and recently drew up a rather rigorous Style Guide for them which sets pretty strict rules for how stuff should be laid out. I think a similar approach for Futurama episodes would be a superb idea. EVula 21:01, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

- OK, maybe Stardust can help me draw up at Style Guide for episodes as I only have 3 more days left of school. Sorry that I haven't been around for quite a while, but school is important for me. [edit] Project Directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council is currently in the process of developing a master directory of the existing WikiProjects to replace and update the existing Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. These WikiProjects are of vital importance in helping wikipedia achieve its goal of becoming truly encyclopedic. Please review the following pages:
- User:Badbilltucker/Culture Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Culture Directory 2,
- User:Badbilltucker/Philosophy and religion Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Sports Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Geographical Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Geographical Directory/United States, (note: This page will be retitled to more accurately reflect its contents)
- User:Badbilltucker/History and society directory, and
- User:Badbilltucker/Science directory
and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope to have the existing directory replaced by the updated and corrected version of the directory above by November 1. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 21:08, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry if you tried to update it before, and the corrections were gone. I have now put the new draft in the old directory pages, so the links should work better. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused you. B2T2 23:52, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Articles for Deletion
Please note that someone has nominated Holophonor and Planet Express Ship for deletion. If you feel strongly about the articles please go and express your reasons for keeping them on their pages (linked from the original article pages) Please remember this is not a vote so going and saying the article should be kept without having a valid reason will not necessarily sway the opinion. This is also a good time to remind everyone here to follow WP:OR, WP:NOT and WP:CRUFT when creating articles as those are the main arguments in these cases. Thanks everyone! Stardust8212 00:17, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:United States of Earth
If anyone actually remembers hearing/seeing the Earth government refered to by the name "United States of Earth" please speak up, otherwise I guess we'll go ahead and move it. Read the talk page and leave any comments there - Quolnok 01:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia and quotes problems on Futurama episode articles
First off trivia sections need to be trimmed alot. Wikipedia isn't a guide to trivia. SeeWP:TRIVIA and Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections in articles for further information on trivia sections. As for quotes: many articles have too many quotes. Move them to WikiQuote, or trim them. A 20 something minute episode's quotes section doesn't need to be so long. RobJ1981 04:14, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- We're in the slow process of fixing both these issues, you may notice about half the episodes have no quotes and the rest have too many, unfortunately I haven't had much time to devote to it. And as WP:TRIVIA says I hope that someday the trivia sections can be turned into useful prose but right now no one has stepped up to do so. If anyone would like to take that upon themselves... Stardust8212 04:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Phil Hartman in realtion to Futurama
The main article mentions that Fry was named in honor of Phil Hartman who was originally supposed to do Fry's voice. While I don't know if that's why they chose Fry's name (I don't doubt it) I know that Hartman was originally supposed to do Zap Brannigan's voice, but the role was taken over by Billy West after Phil Hartman's death. I believe they discuss this in the DVD commentaries.
[edit] Grading
Haven't the articles been graded yet? I want to fix Futurama stubs but I can't find any (now that the stub tag is removed from "Leela's Homeworld.")
Go Futurama! Sp3000 10:25, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think there are any stubs remaining as they generally get merged into other articles pretty quickly: Jumbonium, Dark Matter (Futurama), Delta Brainwave I think were all Futurama stubs at some point and all went up for AfD eventually. Stardust8212 15:34, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Got one! The Day the Earth Stood Stupid. Anyway, what I basically mean is that why isn't there a list of the grades of the articles? Are all articles either stubs, B-class or starters? Go Futurama! Sp3000 11:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction)
If anyone who is significantly contributing to Futurama articles hasn't read this section of the MoS yet then I recommend you please do, it should give you a basic idea of what we are aiming to do here. I would also recommend you read some of the discussion on that page as they make some good points and are suggesting how the MoS should be changed, I find it helpful to think about when I edit. I would also like to point out that Bender has been brought up as a good example in that discussion. It is being praised for its use of in universe style without feeling to need to list what happens in every episode with absurdly large amounts of fancruft. See here. Please take the time to think about this and consider why it is being praised and how you can continue to move in that direction in this and all other Futurama articles.
As a side note a I think the Bender's catchphrases section does not fit in with the praise the article is receiving and I think most of that section should be deleted but I know someone will yell at me if I just flat out delete it but I'm just saying, read that and then look at that section and it makes you think it doesn't belong... [edit] Episode 17
Xmas Story
Please consider this:
The professor begins to tell fry that in year 2801, and onto 3000 which fry is currently in ever sinced when he was frozen to then from 2000, that every "person" gets too highly judged, I don't recall the exact quote, but thats not the point. Computers by then would be able to store that much information , and that if I know my programming, any programmer would use 1 as bad, and 0 as good for the boolean value. So, being that said, that I do not believe that without being born, that Santa even realises that fry is alive, let alone knows who he is or even watchs him, thus, he would live, but being stupid enough to tell evil electric santa, what his name is, since at the end he writes Bender on the good list (i think).
Arguments to this would be simple, that the story from "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town", that "He's making a list, and checking it twice." That the odds are slim for a super human being being old, but quite good at his job, (Santa), would beable to know every human being, and have a list of good and bad, and even slimmer to null for a computer to being able to do that. But, a Santa of the future, developed by huamans, probably didnt consider that people would be getting unfrozen by that year, to perhaps add a human due to that codition. So if santa is programmed to know whos who, and whats what, and programs their behavior of that years' time, if I understand the conditions and logic behind the santa tale, that from Dec. 25, 3000 to Dec 25, 3001, that the electric santa would would not add Fry because he wasnt born then, and did not understand that he exists, and not add him to a database, That fry wouldn't get any presents. However, perhaps with that fact that from say new years when he fell in January 21st 2000, to 3000, it may have been to few of days for Santa to fully judge Fry.
I was high when I wrote this :P —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Daemondevel (talk • contribs) 04:56, 12 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Portal:Futurama
Good news, everyone! I updated the Futurama portal. As I noted in the tasks box I think this wikiproject needs to be responsible for updating the portal on a regular basis. It actually isn't that hard, mostly just taking the lead section from a character article and another article and pasting them into the appropriate boxes. It had been months since it had a good update but I think we could update it every month or every two months without too much trouble. Does this sound like a good plan, I don't really want to have to do it by myself every time. Also is there anything else which needs to be changed on the portal, more things that should be added in any of the other boxes? Stardust8212 21:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- How often should we update it? I used to think about updating the portal but I didn't know the answer to that question. Every week? Every fortnight? --This preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talk•contribs) 23:56, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- I think for the number of articles we have available once a month would be appropriate. Once the show is restarted and there is a constant information flow it might be more appropriate to update certain sections more often. Just my thoughts though, I don't want to commit myself to needing to update it too often. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stardust8212 (talk • contribs) 19:16, 26 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Alienese AFD
As some of you may have already noticed, Alienese was created earlier this week. It was then speedily deleted by someone. It was then recreated and I have since nominated it for Deletion. The discussion is here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alienese looks like the consensus for now is to redirect to Futurama if you believe you have a reasonable argument for why this shouldn't be deleted then feel free to comment at the discussion. Remember it is not a vote so if you don't give a reason then your opinion won't count for much. Beta Crypt 3 and beta crypt 3 were also created and speedily deleted. Just thought I should inform the group of people most likely to have an opinion on the deletion. Stardust8212 13:59, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Assessment
There seem to be two different banners for this wikiproject and I'm not sure why but pages rated using {{FuturamaWikiProject}} don't seem to show up in the talley on this page. I rated quite a few pages earlier today and they are clearly not showing up. I haven't the foggiest idea how that part of Wikipedia works so if anyone has a clue as to what the issue is then please advise. I don't want to do a lot more work on that project until I know I won't be re-doing all of it. Stardust8212 04:00, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've been wondering the same thing. This morning I remembered the tally saying only 1 Start-class yet I clicked on the link and the category said 3. --The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talk•contribs) 05:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- I figured part of the problem out. The table doesn't update until the database updates so it will only update once a day. This means the ones I marked yesterday are working however at least one article in both start class and b-class are each not showing up as of this moment, either they were added after the last database dump or there is still a problem. I'll keep an eye on it and if the problem persists I'll continue to investigate. Also NO importance scales are showing in that box and I have rated some importances so I think that is still a problem since they are all listed as "none" now. Stardust8212 13:45, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- This just raises more questions! OK, in the continued confusion, Dwayne Carey-Hill is rated as a stub class article and yet, it is still included in the Unassessed Futurama articles category. I wish I knew how these things work, my investigation continues. Any advice from people experienced with this sort of thing would be greatly appreciated. Stardust8212 04:29, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Farnsworth Inventions
I'm going to go ahead and merge them as per the portal request , if anyone objections bring it up. (this was written at 3 am) PS: Some of them seem a bit hard to merge like the gorillas.Kingpomba 16:10, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Planets vs Species
There's been a lot of discussion going on over at Omicron Persei VIII about whether the article should be moved to Omicronians. I think we should be consistent with the pages in this wikiproject. Nibblonians, Cygnoids and whatnot are at the "species" article whereas Omicron Persei VIII is at the planet aricle. There is not enough information on any of these species to make two seperate articles for the people and the planets (they would be rather redundant) so what say you? Should we leave Omicron Persei 8 and move the others or leave the others and move Omicron Persei 8? Should we just leave all of them where they are? Also based on this discussion I would like to suggest that Amphibios 9 and Amphibiosan be merged to whichever article name we decide on. I think those would be better suited as a single article especially since Amphibios 9 has very little useful information. I will suggest that merger in the article itself once this discussion has reached its conclusion. Please give your opinions as I hate just deciding these things based on two opinions. Stardust8212 18:24, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- The planet of omicron persei 8 is a recurring in many episodes. I think the planet should take precedence, if it is possible and ideal that it do. In all of the episodes, I only remeber 2 that refer to the niblonians home world, but many do reference the niblonians. I think that is a situation where an article on the niblonains works. In the case of Omicron Persei 8, there are more references to it, and a more recognizable name, therefore the article should be named after the planet. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:32, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, that's sorta how I feel too but since it came up I thought I'd ask over here. As a side note about Amphibiosans are they ever referred to by that name? I ask because I thought it would be spelled amphibiosian (note that I am correcting the link above) like Neptunian, Decapodian and Nibblonian. If they were never referred to as "Amphibiosan" it would make sense to move the article to Amphibios 9. Just my thoughts on the subject, sorry to ramble. Stardust8212 19:14, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yea, it would seem that it would be amphibiosian. Have you looked at any futurama fan sites for a common spelling? I know i have heard amphibious 9 referenced but I do not remeber the number of episodes off the top of my head. Whatever the decision is, I think there should be a redirect from the opposited. I.E., omicronians redirect to Omicron Persei 8, but Amphibious 9 redirects to Amphibiosian. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:17, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AFD
Even though only one person ever responded to my inquiry *sigh* I will go ahead and leave an update: Amphibiosan has been nominated for deletion. You can view the discussion here. As always remember to leave a reason so your not-vote will be counted. Stardust8212 05:58, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Possible future deletions?
During the recent discussion on, and subsequent occurence of, the deletion of Amphibiosan, I brought up the idea that all Futurama planet and alien articles could be (and perhaps should be) merged into one article of "Futurama planets and their inhabitants" or something. At the least, there should probably be some serious rewriting of these articles as they are almost all written in the same fashion as Amphibiosan was... and it got deleted (although I believe wrongly so, but oh well). Chickenmonkey 06:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- List of planets in Futurama already exists. I still think a lot of that article could have been rewritten to not be OR, the original creator was just over ambitious. The title was obviously a problem (and I had already brought it up here before AfD) but a simple statement of what was seen in the episode should not be OR. For example: "The inhabitants of Amphibios 9 have a camouflage ability which Kif notes having trouble controlling when nervous ("Where the Buggalo Roam")". That shouldn't be ruled out as OR, its just a matter of limiting ourselves and not saying "This is similar to such and such real amphibian which also does blank and blank and may have other similarities". I intend to expand a section on "Inhabitants of Amphibios 9" in the Amphibios 9 article. As with all the articles in this fandom we need to avoid any kind of speculating. A simple statement of what is shown in the episode is best, no analysis. For this reason most the character pages also need a good rewrite. Stardust8212 14:00, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Amphibiosan in my user space

[edit] Category deletion debate
I was updating the Portal to reflect the recent name change from Category Futurama actors to Category Futurama cast members when I discovered the category was already nominated for deletion! Please see this link [2] to join the discussion. They claimed they would notify wikiprojects but I didn't get the memo, anyway remember as always that this is not a vote and please include feedback and reasoning so that your opinion will be taken seriously. Stardust8212 19:38, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Page move
I've suggested that List of recurring non-human, non-robot characters from Futurama be moved to List of recurring alien characters from Futurama; of all the characters in the list, only Seymour is not alien, and he hardly counts as recurring at all, and should be moved to Philip J. Fry or List of Futurama animals. Laïka 21:03, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- I support that move, as well as agree with the seymour statement. He is only mentioned in a few articles, mostly as flash backs with only 1 episode where he is actually a part of it. I have no objection to moving seymour off the the recurring characters page. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:10, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Note that all discussion of the move should be added to the article discussion page so it will be clear what the consensus is. If your comment is not there it may not be seen! Not that I think putting a note here is a bad idea, it is good to keep everyone notified, just I don't want anyone's not!vote to be missed. Also the addition of moving Seymour to the animals page is very good, someone should mention that overthere as well. That would be the perfect place for Seymour. [edit] Amphibiosan
Some user had the auacity to BLANK the page with the Amphibiosan article on the basis of non-notability and no references. No AfD process, nothing, just one person's bully decision. The article is referenced to the script of a relevant episoe, etc. Is there any interest in saving this article? House of Scandal 21:35, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] I Second That Emotion (Futurama)
There is an ongoing debate at the article about the source of the title of this episode. I could use some support one way or the other if anyone would like to become involved. For now I am going to suggest that neither be included in the article until an agreement can be reached. Stardust8212 03:19, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Standardisation
We should standardize all Futurama aritcles, meaning:
Plot/summary-Cultural References-Episode Specific things-Foreshadowing-Trivia-Goofs
I believe that in this way we can achieve FA standard! CooLa.M 23:07, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- I am not very activley involved with television show articles. I guess my question is, are there any other featured articles about television shows (I am going to assume so). If so, what format do they follow? To me, it would make more sense to emulate that. Just an idea though. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 23:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
TV Series which have their main article as a featured article:
- Arrested Development
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
- Cheers
- Doctor Who
- Doctor Who missing episodes
- Firefly (TV series)
- Lost (TV series)*
- The Office (US TV series)
- Pilot (House)
- The Simpsons
- The West Wing (TV series)
- The Wire (TV series)
Note that Pilot (House) is the only episode of a television series listed here. Hope that helps for anyone looking for good examples. As for the suggestion I am all for standardizing the articles. It's actually on the to-do list for this project but we're all working on things at our own pace right now. We should probably designate an article as what we think they should all look like and then work to that goal. That way everyone would be working in the same way. Stardust8212 00:49, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ok so i think it is best that each episode page looks like this
- Plot/Summary
- Episode specific thing e.g Things the Professor invented, or something else
- Foreshadowing
- Cultural References
- Goofs
- Trivia
I'm starting to edit episode pages from season 1 in this manner! CooLa.M 13:26, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Trivia should probably be the last thing on the page since the general opinion is that pure trivia should be eliminated from the article or otherwise integrated into the main text. See WP:TRIVIA and WikiProject Trivia Cleanup.Stardust8212 16:58, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Why dont we start with space pilot 3000, build that up to example status, then emulate other episodes off of that one? -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:00, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- I fully agree. ;) EVula // talk // ☯ // 20:25, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- My problem is "first appearance of" which appears in the first episodes but not later ones with new characters. --The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talk•contribs) 05:43, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- After seeing this comment I was going to go through and add "first appearance of" to each episode, but then I had a thought. Why not list all characters that appear in each episode (minus secondary characters of course)? It would add a reference to see how many episodes each character has been in. Just a thought. I could get it done reasonably quickly if there's no objection. Chickenmonkey 21:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe it's just me but I would find it very silly and odd to see on every episode page that Fry, Leela and Bender appeared. I don't even particularly like trivia facts that say "This is one of only three episodes Dr. Zoidberg doesn't appear in", To me that falls under the category of true but not encyclopedic. I might be the only one that thinks that way though. Also, secondary characters that do not make a second appearance probably shouldn't have their "first appearance" listed, I know at one point some were (in The Series Has Landed). Stardust8212 22:14, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, that's true. I don't know why, but I was thinking there were more that didn't have the main characters in them, but now that I'm looking through the episodes, there aren't. We could still go through and note the first appearances, or only appearances, of characters that happen to be more well known than others (such as Slurms MacKenzie). Chickenmonkey 22:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I have standardised 1st season... I will remove quotes and move them to Wikiquotes. Also wikiqoute box should go all the way down, above the futurama navigation!. CooLa.M 22:17, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- I personally like the look of the box being at the top of the last section, keeps there from being a blank space above the episode navigation. Also one of the two episode lists that is in every article needs to go. I like the one in the infobox because it has titles but maybe some people prefer the numbered episode links from the bottom of the page? Stardust8212 22:24, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Straight to DVD movies
They just stated on "Attack of the Show" that there would be four DVD movies, they would be stand alone and they WOULD NOT be chopped up to air as episodes. I thought everyone here would like to know, if they hadn't heard already. I know there had been some discussion somewhere about if they would be the same episodes as will air on Comedy Central. This could probably go in some article somewhere but I'm not sure how to cite live television. Stardust8212 00:54, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Futurama peer review
Hello again, seems quiet around here so I stirred some things up. I have asked for Futurama to be peer reviewed in hopes that it can be improved to FA class. Thought this would also be a good time for the project to look over the article and think about what still needs to be done so if you have a few free minutes please try to read over the article with fresh eyes and see if anything jumps out. If anyone is interested the peer review subpage is here. Hopefully we will receive a lot of good feedback. Happy editing! Stardust8212 05:13, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
