WikiProject_Lighthouses
Project: Lighthouse article creation Goal: To create new articles for all important lighthouses worldwide Scope: There are currently lists of all major lighthouses under List of lighthouses, but most are red links. Filling out articles from this list will be the initial goal; capturing lighthouses not yet on the list will be the next. We should also encourage people to provide original or public domain pictures of the lighthouses, whenever possible. NOT: There is a lot of existing material online about lighthouses; we need to take care not to plagiarize

- The United States National Park Service Light House web page has a lot of information on light houses including pictures. As it is a US goverrnment web site, the information and pictures should be in the public domain. The USCG lights list is similarly in the Public Domain and can be used as source material to verify light type, location etc. for lighthouses in the United States. Skapur 11:55, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
ALSO: Feel free to contribute to this project page -- right now, I consider this to be a stub!

[edit] Adopt an article
Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
