Wikiproject War of the Pacific is a Wikiproject which is dedicated to organizing in an orderly fashion and chronological secuence the antecedents, causes, and naval and military actions that mark this dreadful war which involved the Republic of Chile on one side and the alliance formed by Bolivia and Peru on the other and left Latin America and the whole world in shock for the four years between 1879 and 1883. A war in which examples of unseemingly patriotism were shown by Bolivians, Chileans, and Peruvians.

[edit] Objectives

The objectives of this Wikiproject are:

  • Achieve a neutral point of view in all of the articles; or, cite the views of the different historians when a consensus is not achievable.
  • The War of the Pacific not only should but must be considered as something that happened in various phases, to show from a beginning interaction and all of its circumstances, including the antecedents, the causes, and the various military actions, naval as well as land forces and the consecuences in the three countries, achieving a view of the combination.
  • Since not all people will come to the War of the Pacific project’s articles through the main page, every page will have an invitation to the reader to the main page.

[edit] Reccomendations

[edit] Avoid opinionating

To avoid non-neutrality, you shouldn’t opinionate; if the article is a biography, avoid using subjective adjectives and stick to the facts: the reader can form his own opinion based on the facts. Avoid qualifying words like “patriot”, “glorious” and other similar adjectives. In the case of battles and wars, describe only the military actions as they are known to have happened by evidence: war artifacts, official letters, etc. If your not sure, do not include arguments that can result in being deceptive or not credible.

[edit] Avoid patriotic feelings

If we want to achieve the neutrality of the objectives, we have to dispose of these feelings. Upon writing articles, do it insensitively. Though some articles are not of our liking, history is written as it happened: we cannot and should not alter or in any way make things up.

[edit] It is recommended that you contact the participants of the Wikiproject…

…upon modifying the articles; in this way the proposed changes will be made known and their exactness wil be able to be checked using evidence. For this, you can visit the talk page of each of the articles. The talk page can be a great medium of communication but the author or authors will not necessarily become aware, the talk page of the author is preferable.

Lastly, the authors permanently coordinate through MSN, their addresses are:

  • patriciomecklenburg@hotmail.com
  • ariherrera3@hotmail.com
  • napoleonv@msn.com
